I started my career in indirect tax with HMRC in 2004, where I trained as a VAT assurance officer. As I enjoyed supporting businesses navigate through the complexities of VAT, I opted to further my career as a VAT advisor and have worked both in practice and also in-house. Most recently, I led the VAT function at Boots UK Ltd.
I am very passionate about VAT. To be a successful advisor, it is necessary to fully understand the business, its processes, products and services, and I thoroughly enjoy the variety this brings.
I advise clients across a broad range of sectors but have a particular focus on the retail sector. My in-depth knowledge of the sector brings a deep understanding of implementing excellent VAT governance in the retail and other industry sectors. In addition, I understand how VAT flows throughout business accounting systems and ensure VAT advice is practical and implemented efficiently.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, and we go away in our motorhome when we can. I also own a kit-car which always needs tinkering with, and occasionally, I drive it on a race track on track days, although I’m not very fast!
