Throughout my career in the tax profession, I have specialised in providing indirect tax advice to businesses and organisations with large property portfolios. I enjoy working with my clients in order to provide practical, pragmatic and effective tax advice. My work almost always involves working with our team of property specialists in order to find the best commercial solution for our clients from a VAT, SDLT and direct tax perspective.
I have experience of advising clients across a range of sectors – this includes everything from large investment or family trusts, on-shore and off-shore investors and developers, public authorities, groups of companies with significant property holdings, some of the largest social housing providers as well as charities and REITs. This often gives me a valuable perspective when dealing in land transactions; having an in-depth knowledge of my client's position but, often of equal importance, the other-side's likely VAT position.
I am also a member of the British Property Federation’s VAT Committee which seeks to influence and develop VAT law and policy. Outside work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and family. As a proud Welshman, I follow all things rugby, including coaching my youngest son on a Sunday morning at our local club.
