I specialise in resolving tax disputes and investigations with HMRC. I was a lawyer in HMRC Solicitor’s Office for nearly nine years where I advised on some of the most complex corporate and personal tax disputes on behalf of HMRC.
I advise companies and individuals on how to use litigation techniques to avoid litigation and achieve, quick and effective settlements with HMRC.
I have experience of complex corporate and personal disputes across all sectors. In particular, I have successfully advised on settlements around complex transfer pricing, permanent establishment, diverted profits tax, and central management and control. I advise high net worth individuals and professionals on a wide range of complex matters including: residence and domicile, disclosures under Code of Practice 8 and suspected serious tax fraud settlements under COP9, IR35 challenges and professional negligence claims against independent financial advisers, accountants and law firms in relation to tax advice they have given.
I consider myself to be pragmatic and I take a proactive approach to corporate tax reassurance which includes implementing prevention of facilitation of tax evasion procedures, advising on compliance with senior accounting officer duties and lowering your risk under business risk reviews.
Outside of work I enjoy coaching and mentoring aspiring lawyers, watching musicals, going to comedy shows and cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
