As an engagement lead with over 17 years’ experience working within our public services team, I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of local government, healthcare and not for profit organisations across the South West and Wales. I specialise in financial, regularity and performance audit, including undertaking reviews of governance, risk management and overall use of resources arrangements. Every day is different and I have had the opportunity to work with many public bodies over my career. This has ranged from working with devolved government administrations on understanding the impact of policy and legislative change, to working with councillors at the local level, helping them to understand their roles and develop their skills to discharge their democratic responsibilities effectively to their local communities.
Public services play such an important part in so many people’s lives. Having worked within this sector since joining the firm as a graduate, I have seen public services go through significant change over this time. I feel a great privilege and responsibility in supporting and advising clients through some difficult challenges, helping them create ideas to allow them to do things differently, more cost effectively and as simply as possible. Providing clients with sector insight, as well as connecting them with other organisations to help achieve improved outcomes, is a vital part of my role.
I lead the delivery of technical and financial reporting training in the region and regularly present at internal and external technical briefings, ensuring our clients and our audit teams get the support they need through tailored financial reporting workshops and technical advice. Outside of work, I am an executive member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) Wales Cymru branch and enjoy working with them to create development activities for public finance professionals across Wales.
Family is hugely important to me and so when I am not at work I enjoy spending time with them, in particular my daughter, who continues to inspire me and put a smile on my face every day with her enthusiasm and drive. I also enjoy swimming, pilates and music when needing some ‘me’ time in-between.
