As Head of Strategy Execution for the firm’s Financial Services Group (FSG), my focus lies in bringing together the wide range of skills we offer across our various service lines in ways that help fix our clients problems and build trust and integrity in the financial services industry.
Before joining Grant Thornton in 2016, I spent 27 years working in regulation for the Bank of England, FSA and FCA. I held a variety of senior roles including Chief Risk Officer; Director of Policy, Risk & Research; and Accountable Executive for MiFID II & MAR Implementation; and as Head of Department covered a wide range of functions (Strategy, Planning, Performance, Consumer Affairs, Market Research, Resilience, Cyber risk and Better Regulation). Prior to this, I spent 12 years as a prudential supervisor, looking after a range of large and small banks.
I have a deep knowledge of regulation and its development, and a track record of working successfully across complex organisational structures. I have also led several major change programmes and restructurings, including taking a major role in the splitting of the FSA and the design of the PRA and FCA.
Outside of work, I competed at the Olympics in Rowing, and have been heavily involved in Elite sport, including as Chair of the BOA Athletes Commission and UKSport’s Lottery Awards’ Panel. I’m currently a committee member of GB Olympians and a Steward of Henley Royal Regatta.
