I have over 25 years’ experience in audit, working across a range of cultures and geographies including the USA, Russia, Singapore, Eastern Europe and Africa.
I lead our service line for internal audit effectiveness reviews and specialise in helping teams develop and enhance their programme assurance approaches. Leading two of our largest FTSE 100 co-source partnerships, I provide audit plan delivery support as well as internal audit strategic advice and continuous improvement support.
I also have the perspective of having worked in the industry, including as head of audit for Homebase and head of audit, head of compliance and head of finance transformation for Burberry. My main specialism has been in the retail sector, but more recently I have also worked in hospitality. My role in assessing internal audit function effectiveness has also meant that I have operated across sectors such as manufacturing, recruitment and luxury goods.
I love working collaboratively with teams to help them develop their audit plans and value-add agenda. I believe that where we can partner business knowledge with insight on what “good” looks like across a wide range of functions, we can truly drive innovation in what assurance provides and how it is delivered.
I enjoy working with clients to help them increase the insight and impact their function is delivering, especially when developing programme assurance approaches. Audit committees are taking confidence from internal audit being embedded into the programmes for real-time insight, and stakeholders are appreciating the subject specialism that it can bring to the table in a flexible way. I love getting the chance to really understand the context of each business to be able to share tailored insights and ideas that can make a real difference.
When I am not at work I can usually be found either indulging my high impact aerobics obsession, standing in a cold field watching my three boys play a sport, or in church.
