Grant Thornton UK LLP wins Pensions Team of the Year... the British Accountancy Awards 2014

Grant Thornton UK LLP was named Top 50 Pensions Team of the Year 2014 last night at the British Accountancy Awards hosted by Accountancy Age. This was the first year where the pensions category has been included.

Grant Thornton's award is in recognition of the highly regarded National Pension Audit team led by Fiona Baldwin and Neil Knights, and the  groundbreaking pensions advisory work it carried out in two notable corporate restructurings. One on behalf of  the Kodak Pension Plan [ 1754 kb ] in the global restructuring of the Eastman Kodak Company, and secondly for the Industry Wide Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme and the Industry Wide Coal Mineworkers Pension Scheme in the restructuring of UK Coal plc.

Commenting on the nomination, Darren Mason, pensions advisory partner at Grant Thornton UK LLP, said: "The fact we have been recognised the first time for this award was accolade enough, but to go on to win the category reaffirms the quality of the advice and service that Grant Thornton delivers to the sector and amongst our peers.

"Our experience and success means we are now deeply embedded as leaders in the industry, which makes us ideally placed to keep trustees aware of emerging issues relevant to their schemes.

"We have been fortunate enough this year in representing some of  the biggest pension schemes in the country in delivering high quality, innovative and insightful audit and advisory services, including  two successful corporate restructurings, securing the benefits of thousands of pension scheme members. This testifies the quality of service Grant Thornton as a whole delivers to dynamic businesses across the globe."
