Grant Thornton UK LLP nominated for...

...two prestigious awards at the British Accountancy Awards 2014

Grant Thornton UK LLP has been nominated for Global Firm of the Year and also shortlisted for the Top 50 Pensions Team of the Year 2014 at the British Accountancy Awards hosted by Accountancy Age.

Now in their fourth year, these prestigious awards will take place on 25 November at The Brewery in central London. The awards attract more than 500 guests from practices all over the country including the small local firms to the larger regional, national and global players.

In the first year where the pensions category has been included, Grant Thornton's nomination is in recognition of the groundbreaking work it carried out in two notable corporate restructurings. One on behalf of  the Kodak Pension Plan in the global restructuring of the Eastman Kodak Company, and secondly for the Industry Wide Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme and the Industry Wide Coal Mineworkers Pension Scheme in the restructuring of UK Coal plc.

Commenting on the nomination, Darren Mason, pensions partner at Grant Thornton UK LLP, said: "This year, for us, has meant representing some of  the biggest pension schemes in the country and two successful corporate restructurings, securing the benefits of thousands of pension scheme members.

"Our experience and the success through these assignments means we are now deeply embedded as leaders in the industry, which makes us ideally placed to keep trustees aware of emerging issues relevant to their schemes. The fact we have been shortlisted the first time this award has been offered is a strong testament both to the strength of our firm and the consistent quality of our output. This recognition reaffirms the quality of the advice and service that Grant Thornton as a whole delivers to dynamic businesses across the globe."
