Leading business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK LLP announces the appointment of Sue Almond as Head of Assurance, with immediate effect.
Sue re-joins the firm following a distinguished career in the audit and assurance profession, having spent over 20 years with Grant Thornton previously (1988 – 2009). She joins from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), where she most recently lead the Association's external affairs programme.
In her role as Head of Assurance, Sue will work closely with the firm's leadership, focusing on quality and excellence. She will be based in the firm's London office.
Paul Etherington, Quality and Professional Affairs Leader at Grant Thornton UK LLP, commented: "Providing best-in-class assurance services is vital to the wider restoration of trust and integrity in public markets. This goes beyond the traditional notion of auditing, to ask deeper, more meaningful and insightful questions around the commercial viability and social contribution of organisations in order to facilitate a more sustainable and vibrant economy. Sue's considerable experience, coupled with her dynamic skill-sets and unwavering professionalism, go right to the heart of what Grant Thornton stands for and we look forward to welcoming her back to the firm."
Sue Almond added: "Grant Thornton has always been a dynamic organisation, but has really distinguished itself in recent years for its unique approach to working with clients and innovative thinking. The firm is in a compelling position to help reshape the UK's economic agenda, and I look forward to progressing the opportunity for assurance services to play a greater part in doing so."
Sue takes on the role from Mark Cardiff, who is taking on the new position of Head of Practice Development, focused on project implementation.
