Leading business and financial advisory firm Grant Thornton UK LLP has appointed a new Head of Innovation Group. Following two successful years directed by Dominic Preston, the national service offering is now being led by Ian Rowland, with effect from 1 January 2016.
Rowland has over 16 years tax experience, with a main focus on advising owner managed companies and entrepreneurial clients. He is a specialist in Research and Development (R&D) tax and has significant experience helping clients benefit from the value made available to companies investing in R&D in their business.
Commenting on his appointment, Rowland said "Innovation is the lifeblood of business and for the UK to continue its role as a leading global hotspot for innovation, companies need to recognise how crucial R&D tax relief and Patent Box can be, both to the long-term growth of their company and to the creation of a more vibrant economy. I see a great opportunity over the next few years to increase our offering and share in this competitive market as the benefit offered by the government continues to improve."
Jonathan Riley, Head of Tax at Grant Thornton UK LLP added "With innovation firmly on the government’s agenda Grant Thornton’s Innovation Group continues to evolve and grow, providing specialist tax advice and working with dynamic, high growth companies. We are delighted to welcome Ian to the role and know that his keen interest and extensive experience will contribute towards the team's continued success."
