Grant Thornton and Babington Group’s new accountancy programme

Leading business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK LLP and expert high-quality training provider Babington Group have formed a new partnership to develop and deliver a new suite of industry leading Accountancy Apprenticeship Programmes.

The collaboration draws on both Babington’s expertise as a trusted advisor in developing skilled and sustainable workforces and Grant Thornton’s commercial knowledge and professional expertise. With large employers able to utilise the Apprenticeship Levy to pay for training and smaller employers gaining 90% contribution towards the costs, accountancy apprenticeships are a cost effective way for organisations to up-skill their people.

The Grant Thornton Babington Accountancy Apprenticeships are open to new and existing employees at any stage in their career. They are a great way to recruit and retain talented individuals at a time when businesses up and down the country continue to point to concerns over skilled staff shortages as a major potential constraint for growth.

Justin Rix, partner, Grant Thornton UK LLP said: “Our partnership with Babington Group is an innovative and market leading approach to delivering first-class accountancy qualifications, whilst also coming under the new Apprenticeship funding rules. This collaboration demonstrates our commitment to shaping a vibrant economy and encouraging growth in dynamic organisations through developing the skills of their people.

“At the heart of the programme is Babington’s highly regarded and role-specific academic teaching and Grant Thornton’s ability to offer commercial insights and practical application to learners. We are very excited to be a part of this forward thinking collaboration with Babington.”

Carole Carson, CEO, Babington Group said: “I am both delighted and excited by this partnership and the opportunities these professional apprenticeships will provide to both businesses and individuals. The partnership with Grant Thornton cements our already excellent reputation in this sector and will ensure the programmes world leading, fit for industry and provide fantastic career progression opportunities.

“Both organisations already have an enviable reputation for delivering exceptional quality and performance and we look forward to embracing this new partnership to deliver a real business impact for the businesses, communities and learners that we work with.”

David Gallagher, Group Commercial Director, Babington Group added: “Our Accountancy Apprenticeships were already market leading, with some of the highest success rates in the training sector. Our new and exciting partnership with Grant Thornton takes our offer to a completely different level, with the added value, latest thinking and prestige that such a fantastic organisation as Grant Thornton brings to our programmes. It’s great to be working with such a high profile, forward thinking organisation that wants to play a role in supporting people to have a long and successful career in accountancy through sharing their resources and expertise.”
