Leading business and financial adviser Grant Thornton UK LLP has acquired the analytics firm Local Futures Group. The transaction sees Local Futures Group's team joining with immediate effect and will bolster the firm's analytics offering.
Recognised for its data-driven geographical perspectives on the interplay between economic, social and environmental factors, the organisation aims to provide a more holistic view of datasets through layered analysis and rich insights for clients; helping public and private sector organisations understand people and places better.
The acquisition supports Grant Thornton's strategic shift to holistic business advice for private and public sector clients. It will form part of the firm's growing analytics services and sees the introduction of a Place Analytics offering, under the Grant Thornton banner.
Phillip Woolley, Partner, Grant Thornton UK LLP, commented: "For organisations in both the private and public sectors, the ability to make informed decisions based on robust and comprehensive data-driven insights has never been more important. The analytics expertise which the Local Futures Group brings truly complements our solutions-driven approach to working with clients, and our major growth programmes such as GrowthAccelerator.
"Local Futures Group's work in economic development and growth, in particular, sparked our interest in exploiting the synergy between our growth products. As organisations in both the public and private sector pursue strategies for growth, tools such as Place Analytics, which can offer a comprehensive picture of the socio-economic drivers in a location, can go a long way in helping organisations frame their strategy, products and services to customers."
John Fisher, founder of Local Futures Group, added: "When we first started on this journey, nearly 20 years ago, it was clear that the issue wasn't just about accessing data, but rather, in analysing and presenting it in a form that demonstrates the interrelationship at a local level between economic, social and environmental conditions. Over this period we have worked with some of the UK's most dynamic organisations, highlighting this interplay and informing their strategies and decision making. We look forward to further innovating our offer as part of a wider Grant Thornton Analytics offering."
The Local Futures Group team is relocating to Grant Thornton's London Euston offices. Current clients and business partners will be communicated with individually, to ensure a smooth transition and avoid any disruption to services.
