I was appointed chairman of the Grant Thornton International Board with effect from 1 January 2015, ahead of stepping down as UK CEO in June 2015.
As CEO of Grant Thornton from 2008 to 2015, it was my responsibility to provide a vision for the future, a strategy for growth and to lead the firm through an ever-evolving and complex marketplace. Our focus remains on helping dynamic organisations unlock their potential for growth, particularly in that fast-growing but often ‘forgotten sector’ of the UK economy: mid-sized businesses.
Before becoming CEO, I was head of advisory in the UK and then global head of advisory. I’ve also held various leadership roles including south-east region leader of corporate recovery and national leader of recovery and reorganisation. I’ve been involved in some of the firm’s largest insolvency and restructuring assignments, including Lancer Boss, Robert Maxwell, Brent Walker, Sale Tilney and Athena.
Outside of my day job I’m involved in an educational charity and do some leadership mentoring. I am an avid fan of the cinema, theatre, cricket, football and enjoy selecting, preparing and consuming good food and wine.
