As head of public affairs my role is to advise colleagues and clients on politics, government and public policy issues. I work with teams across Grant Thornton UK LLP to provide clients with insight and intelligence on politics and the development of the business and regulatory environment set by government.

I joined Grant Thornton in 2014 after 20 years working in senior positions in the UK government including the UK Representation to the EU in Brussels, the Department for Transport, the Department for Business and as a media adviser to cabinet ministers. From 2006-08 I was director of public policy at Tesco Plc, leading their public affairs and government relations in the UK and EU.

One of the things I enjoy about Grant Thornton's approach to public affairs is giving our clients a collective voice in government, acting as an advocate for the policies that will support sustainable growth across our client base. At Grant Thornton we don't lobby on behalf of individual clients but I do advise clients on their overall public affairs strategy, helping them to develop their own plans for engaging with politics and government.

I am a Prince's Trust business mentor, working with young people who are starting their own business, and a trustee of the Watermans Arts Centre in West London. My wife and I enjoy walking our adopted dogs and dancing to '80s indie music.
