Governance Advisory
An organisation’s governance agenda can be examined from a
number of different perspectives. Our approach draws on our
capabilities in benchmarking, diagnostics, auditing and consulting.
Beyond regulatory aspects, the key to successful governance rests
on two things.
Firstly, the approach must be owned by the board and must also
infuse the organisation as a whole. This is central to what most
commentators call ‘organisational integrity’.
Secondly, effective governance does not inhibit the effective
functioning of the organisation. Rather, it enhances it. An
increasingly activist stakeholder culture continues to remind
boards of the merits of a more rigorous and consistent approach to
governance.
An appropriate governance structure supports the organisation’s
achievement of its objectives. Moreover, research now shows that
proper governance structures underpin the organisation’s ability to
positively influence the perceptions of stakeholders. At an
operational level, effective governance embraces the internal
control framework, providing assurance on operational and financial
activities.
