As an audit partner since 1990, I’ve had an enjoyably varied career. I was head of our UK assurance practice for seven years before moving to my current leadership role, which I’ve held since 2008. I also represented Grant Thornton internationally on audit and public policy matters through the global public policy committee, which comprises senior partners of the world's six largest audit networks, and which I chaired for two years until 2014. Prior to that, I was focused on client service as the managing partner of the West London and, later, the London Gatwick offices.
In 2010, I accepted an invitation to join the working group to establish the International Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC) to drive globally recognised standards for sustainability reporting. In the same year I was proud to win the Accountancy Age Awards 2010 Personality of the Year.
My client portfolio includes a number of FTSE 250 full list and AIM-quoted clients, international groups with listings in Germany, France and the US, and larger entrepreneurial owner-managed businesses. I also offer sector expertise in business support services, real estate and construction, and technology.
Away from the office, I play golf (very badly) and run (not quite so badly). I enjoy watching and playing most forms of sport, and going to the theatre, cinema, ballet and opera.
