I work full-time in our automotive sector, advising automotive manufacturers and retailers on their M&A activity and helping with their strategic planning.
This is something I’ve been doing for more than 15 years now. For example, I’ve advised on a management buy-out of a top 100 UK motor retail group; provided strategic planning for a top 25 dealer group, including assisting with new management structure; given European acquisition advice for a Far Eastern corporate; and helped a manufacturer with its European footprint through an assisted finance programme.
Automotive is a fast-changing business environment in the modern era so change management skills are essential when it comes to advising our clients.
I’m a former lecturer on the MSc course for Dealer Principals at Ford College and, these days, I present at Grant Thornton, Automotive Management, Sewells, Motor Trader, Automotive Fellowship seminars and conferences.
I'm also co-author of the ICAEW's guide to auditing motor retailers and author of the first Grant Thornton industry group audit programme (for motor retail).
