I joined the firm’s national pensions team in 2011 and have more than 20 years’ audit experience in the pensions sector. As head of London pensions audit I’m passionate about delivering an audit that adds value to the trustees' governance processes rather than just a minimum compliance 'tick box' service. This is achieved via proactive lines of communication and a high quality tailored audit approach with a flexible audit scope. Trustees see us as their ‘eyes and ears’ and really value the added insight we can bring from both our thought leadership position in the sector, as well as our audit of their scheme.
I have been a trustee myself – for more than seven years – and therefore I fully understand the demands placed upon trustees. I sit on many of the leading working parties and committees that are at the forefront of changes to regulation and best practice in the sector. I'm therefore able to be a voice for my clients as I help to shape new guidance and regulation. I am also co-author for the Industry Audit and Accounting Guide for Pension Schemes.
Our team acts as scheme auditor for more than 500 occupational pension schemes, including several of the largest and most complex schemes in the UK. We act for the largest scheme in the UK and 25 others with assets in excess of £1 billion. Our audit team is supported by the full range of in-house experts in our wider pensions team including actuarial, investment valuation, employer covenant, VAT, PPF levy advisory, de-risking solutions, trustee training, employee benefit services and other advisory.
My expertise covers a broad range including: scheme mergers, benefit structures, benchmarking, complex investment accounting, trustee training, and assisting trustees and management in reviewing governance procedures, risk registers and specifically the mitigation of fraud risk.
