I joined Grant Thornton as a partner in 2004 and currently lead a team based in Manchester, which has successfully negotiated settlements for numerous clients facing complex HM Revenue & Customs issues. We specialise in tax investigations defence, benefits in kind, employment status and employment taxes.
I have more than 30 years experience in the tax investigation field, having served 20 years with HM Revenue & Customs before joining the accountancy profession in 1996.
My main area of expertise is in residence/domicile and tax schemes defence strategies, and I'm skilled at making voluntary disclosures to HM Revenue and Customs where matters have been identified at clients undergoing forensic investigations or pre/post transaction due diligence. I've represented clients at the General and Special Commissioners as well as providing expert evidence in the criminal courts.
I regularly lecture on investigation and employment tax issues and am a member of the ICAEW Tax Investigations technical committee and the HM Revenue & Customs Working Together initiative.
